Artwork requirements for custom NFC keychain printing

The ZIP contains one file per editor. Use the one for the tool you actually work in — you do not convert between formats.

Front and back are not interchangeable. The punch hole is top-right on the front and top-left on the back.

The file is slightly larger than the finished keyfob so colour can run off the cut. That extra strip is trimmed in production.

Put logos, text and barcodes inside the safe area. Backgrounds and full-bleed colour should reach the edge of the artboard, not stop at the cut. Anything on the hole will be punched out.

Do not change the artboard size, the hole, or the cut shape.

Every template has exactly two top-level layers. Names must stay exactly as they are (including the long dash in the guides name).

YOUR DESIGN — unlocked. All of your artwork goes in here. Add groups, images, text, shapes — but only as children of this layer. On upload we keep this container and discard everything else.

• Figma: this must stay a Frame with Clip content on, the same size as the page. Do not convert it to a Group. Do not turn clip off. Do not rename it.
• Leave the white background rectangle in place if you want a white keyfob; recolour or cover it if you want a printed background.

GUIDES — DO NOT EDIT — locked, sitting above YOUR DESIGN as a sibling, never nested inside it. Do not unlock, move, recolour, rename or delete it. Do not draw artwork on this layer.

You do not need to hide the guides before export if you follow the per-editor steps. If you export the whole page from Figma, we try to strip the guide lines automatically; if they are merged into the same shape as your art, the upload is rejected.

Upload one file per side. Front-only or back-only is fine. Maximum 25 MB per file. Images inside the file must be embedded (not linked) and at least 300 dpi at print size.

1. Open keyfob-template.fig.
2. Work only inside the YOUR DESIGN frame on that side.
3. Select the YOUR DESIGN frame (not the whole page).
4. Export PDF, scale 1×. A 2× export is a 108 mm page and will be rejected.
5. Repeat for the other side. You will have two PDFs.
6. Upload those PDFs in Designer Studio.

Do not export the .fig itself. Do not use “Export full page”. Do not change the frame size — it must stay 153.07 × 78.41 px, which is 54 × 27.66 mm in Figma’s PDF export.

1. Open keyfob-template-front.ai or keyfob-template-back.ai.
2. Keep every new object inside the YOUR DESIGN layer. Do not draw on GUIDES — DO NOT EDIT.
3. In Layer Options for the guides layer, Print should stay unchecked.
4. Upload the .ai directly, or File → Save As → Adobe PDF. If you save PDF, enable Create Acrobat Layers from Top-Level Layers.
5. One artboard, one page. Use the other file for the other side.
6. Outline fonts only if you do not need to edit that text later in Studio. Live text in a font we carry can stay editable; outlined text becomes artwork.

Do not promote nested layers to extra top-level layers. The only top-level artwork layer should remain YOUR DESIGN.

1. Open keyfob-template-front.psd or keyfob-template-back.psd.
2. Put all artwork inside the YOUR DESIGN group. Groups inside it are fine — each top-level child of YOUR DESIGN becomes one object in Studio (a group stays one object, which preserves masks and effects).
3. Do not flatten. File → Save (PSD).
4. Do not change the document size or resolution.
5. Blend modes other than Normal are flattened into the layer below on import. Prefer Normal.

We print CMYK on an HP Indigo press. Screens are RGB.

Design in CMYK when you can. An RGB file is accepted; we convert it, and saturated blues, neons and some reds can shift. Pantone / spot colours become the closest CMYK. For solid black text and fills use C0 M0 Y0 K100.

You do not have to convert fonts to outlines for this upload.

• Live text in a font Designer Studio provides can be retyped, moved and used for names, serials or UIDs after import.
• Outlined text looks exactly as you drew it, but cannot be retyped.
• If we do not have the font, that text is imported as artwork so we never silently substitute a different typeface.
• Keep body text at least 6 pt. Finer type may be enlarged on import so it stays readable on a 51 mm keyfob.
• Hairlines: at least 0.5 pt for dark strokes, 1 pt for light strokes.

In Designer Studio choose Upload Print-Ready Artwork, drop the front and/or back file, and wait for the check.

If something is wrong, the message tells you what to fix (artboard size, empty YOUR DESIGN, artwork outside the container, guides still in a flat PDF, image below 300 dpi). Warnings — RGB, content near the cut or hole, background not quite to the edge — do not block the upload. They mean look at this before you approve the proof.

Accepted files come into the editor as ordinary layers you can select, move or hide. NFCKEY branding on the back stays; your file does not remove it. Add serial numbers, names or barcodes in Studio after import if you need variable data — that is not read from the uploaded file automatically.

Then continue as usual: preview, proof, approve.
