NFC Keychain for Marine

NFCKEY is a wearable NFC keychain that can replace plastic crew ID cards and RFID access passes on vessels, offshore facilities, and port environments. It is issued and managed by the vessel operator or port authority — working with existing gangway control, access control, and crew management systems.

how nfckey fits in

What NFCKEY Replaces in Marine Systems

What NFCKEY replaces

Plastic RFID crew ID cards and personnel access passes

Temporary boarding passes issued to contractors, surveyors, and port visitors

Cabin key cards on passenger vessels and cruise ships

NFCKEY acts as a wearable NFC credential that is presented to a reader in the same way as a traditional crew card or access pass

What NFCKEY does not replace

Gangway control terminals, gate readers, or access hardware

Crew management software or personnel databases

Access rules, boarding permissions, or safety management systems

NFCKEY does not make access or boarding decisions on its own. All authorisation remains fully managed by the existing gangway control or vessel access control system

Common Uses

How NFCKEY Is Commonly Used in Marine

In marine and offshore environments, NFCKEY can be used for:

  • Crew boarding and gangway access issued to crew members as a wearable credential for check-in and check-out at gangway control points
  • Vessel zone access for controlled entry to restricted areas including engine rooms, bridge, cargo zones, and operational sections of the vessel
  • Cabin access on passenger vessels and cruise ships using MIFARE-compatible electronic locking systems
  • Contractor and visitor boarding temporary credentials issued to port visitors, surveyors, and contractors for controlled vessel or facility access
  • Crew attendance and mustering logging crew presence at designated muster points for safety compliance and emergency accountability

The wearable format keeps the credential attached to keys or lanyards throughout the voyage — always accessible at gangways, zone entry points, and muster stations

Deployment Model

Who Uses and Who Manages NFCKEY in Marine Systems

Who Uses NFCKEY:

  • NFCKEY is carried and used by crew members, officers, and authorised personnel as a wearable NFC credential
  • On passenger vessels and cruise ships, NFCKEY is also issued to guests for cabin access and controlled zone entry throughout the vessel
  • Users present NFCKEY to readers at gangways, zone entry points, cabin locks, and muster stations, in the same way as a traditional crew card or guest pass

Who Manages NFCKEY:

  • NFCKEY is issued, enrolled, and managed by the vessel operator, port authority, or system administrator operating the gangway control or access management system
  • Crew members and guests do not manage or configure their own access credentials

All boarding decisions, zone access, cabin permissions, and safety compliance policies remain fully system-controlled within the vessel's gangway control or crew management platform.
